Why You Should Try Blogging

Many people are getting into blogging for several reasons. You might have heard it somewhere
recently but it actually started more than a decade ago from its mother, the online diary.
Back then, these kinds of diaries are used by people to record and share accounts of their
personal lives. Although blogging still uses that same concept, it has now evolved into
several categories and usage.

Nowadays, blogging is synonymous to online marketing. Bloggers not only publish contents reflecting
their moods for the day or sharing what they have done for the past few weeks but also advertise
and create a sturdy communication with their audience. More so, through the use of blogging,
people are now able to find an alternative in making money. Blogging is an excellent opportunity
for generating income.

The Blog

Before you even start to create you own blog. It is necessary to know what blog really is.
The term blog is actually derived from the word Weblog or Web log. Back in the days,
around the late 1990’s, these Web logs are utilized by users to track updates and
references to other resources online. They served as journals, which made them useful
as a publishing tool for the user’s stream of consciousness. Of course, the readers can
still comment and share their thoughts on just abut anything under the sun.

Technically, blogs are also known as CMS or Content Management Systems. Being a CMS, blogs
allow the writers to easily publish to a specific Web site and manage the content without the need
of having to deal with the program code. Publishing software also provides users with a GUI or
Graphical User Interface for easy pointing and clicking of their articles. Through the use of easy-to-do procedures, you can perform configuration and set up, which can ease your job as a blogger since
the tool can automatically organize your published articles the next time you publish.

The Advantage of Blogging

The main question is; why should you start blogging? The first thing you need to know is that
blogging can enhance and support your online communications. However, you must first understand
the outcome of your blog that you desire in order to attain success. The main reason why you should
start blogging, is that it can be both an excellent outlet for your frustrations or excitement and
profitable at the same time.

It does not mean that if you are not into blogging, you should not blog. Being in a business,
especially those with dealings on the Internet, requires you to establish a clientele that are
actually interested with your services. Blogs can do this easily due to its accessibility and
being an excellent medium for marketing that it is, blogs are essential for businesses.

More so, if you are handling a business, there is good chance that your competition is blogging
about their products and services. This is an easy method for you to examine the competition
and what their clients’ preferences are. Additionally, blogs can create strong customer relationships
since your target market can easily and directly communicate with the authority within your business.

This kind of opportunity is hard to resist since a strong customer relationship can eventually lead
to lasting trust to your product and services; hence, eventual increase in your revenue.

Blogging Defined

With the recent rise in advanced social networking sites and the subsequent attention they have received from media outlets, people commonly perceive weblogs–which are the staple of social networking–as a new invention; however, this isn’t entirely true. Adding information to web-logs or “blogs”–blogging defined today–has been around for over ten years–and has gradually gained strength on the Internet as means of communication.

While people blogging in the early 1990s generally limited their blogs to personal information, such as chronicles and diaries, bloggers defined today includes blogging on a wide variety of different topics–from politics to cheese-tasting; however, blogging defined today is very much the same: a simple means to better facilitate communication.

Blogging defined is one of the most effective means of Internet-based communication because it is relatively easy and requires little time investment. Using a blogging interface like WordPress or Google’s Blogger, a blog owner can add a new entries to his blog while he sits in a meeting at work or watches events unfold on TV. Rather than fooling around with messy code, he can simply enter his message textually in his blog; and then update it in a matter of seconds.

Another crucial aspect of blogging that makes it such an effective medium for communication is that it allows for rapid-response comments. A political debate could literally unfold over the course of the afternoon in the form of comments on a blog.

Conversely, blogging defined by the media is often “controversial,” but it doesn’t have to be that way. Many blogs are used to simply say “hello” to friends who are blog owners. This is quite common with social networking sites, such as Myspace and Livejournal–both of which use a form of blog to facilitate communication.

Whether blogging defined is a form spurring debate between political opponents or blogging defined is a means of increasing bonds between friends, they have the ability to rapidly increase the speed of communication by acting as a sort of intermediary between a full-featured website and a forum

Blog Design Elements

A blog is essentially just a online journal that is displayed in reverse chronological order, but it’s also a website that requires that you give it the same attention to detail that any other website requires. It also requires most of the same design elements as a regular website which doesn’t function as a blog. Blogger’s have some decisions to make regarding their design elements of the blog such as the colors and layout, fonts and the placement of advertisements. Although a lot of blog software programs provide a variety of templates that make designing a blog a rather simple chore, blogs may also be highly customized by bloggers who possess programming skills. This article will discuss some of the basic design element considerations that blogger’s encounter.

The Colors and Layouts of a Blog

The colors and layout of a blog is the most obvious design considerations blogger’s should consider when starting or re-designing their blog. Blogger’s might use a solid color background, blocks of different colors in the background or pictures or textures in the background. These background elements can be any color imaginable. However, blogger’s who are considering the colors to use in their blog should consider using colors that will be aesthetically appealing to most of their blog visitors. This is important because the use of garish colors which might be harsh on the eye can result in less blog traffic.

The layout of your blog should also be considered by the blogger. The blog should be arranged in a way that is appealing to your blog visitors, suits the subject of your blog and is presented in a logical manner which is easy for visitors to navigate. Again, this is important, failure to use a layout that meets this criteria may result in your blog visitors choosing not to visit your blog more then once because the layout is confusing or unappealing to them.

Fonts Used in your Blog

Blogger’s have a lot of options available to them when selecting fonts to use on their blog. These options include the font chosen, the text size and the color of the text. Blogger’s should consider choosing a font that works well with the overall design of the layout of their blog and suits the subject matter of the blog but also is a font which commonly used. This is important because your blog visitors might have trouble viewing the font if you select a unique font that is not common. The text size and colors of the text should also be carefully considered. This element is primarily important for the readability of your blog. Text size should be set so people of the target audience can easily read the text. For example a blogger with senior citizens as the target audience may opt to use a text size slightly larger than the usual. The colors used for the text should also be selected to enhance the readability. One way to do this is to select colors which are appealing to the eye but also contrast with the background color.

Inclusion of Advertisements in your Blog

Blogger’s must also consider the inclusion of advertisements when they’re designing their blogs. Once this decision is made, blogger’s who opt to include advertisements must carefully consider how and where they wish to display the advertisements. Advertisements can be displayed in a lot of various locations throughout the blog and can be designed to be discrete or obvious depending on the preferences of the blogger. Advertisements might also be a variety of sizes and shapes and are highly customizable in a number of different ways. Choose where to add advertisements on your blog wisely and don’t over do it.
